Be prepared for ice…lots of ice….and do you notice how BLUE the ice is?  It’s like the tidy bowl man came in and had some fun ----but it’s actually the minerals that make the ice this color.

As we worked our way up Tracy Arm, the fjord leading toward Sawyer glacier – the wonder of the surrounding wilderness brought about a sense of awe and reverrence amongst everyone on the ship.

We traveled silently, slowly making our way past the floating chunks of ice ----the air turning colder the closer we got to the glacier itself.

Big and Blue ---this is Sawyer Glacier in the center of the photo.

We were lucky enough to have the sun peeking through the clouds – and the reflection of the mountains in the icy water was beautiful.

Sawyer Glacier was as far as we could go.  The ship turned slowly, all the way around – and we headed back out the way we came in watching the ice float all around us.

I’ve uploaded all the scenery shots into a slide show. If you can’t view the slide show on your mobile device, click the image below to be taken directly to the photo album.
