Good morning blog readers. This morning I am going to demonstrate to you, the process of creating a "Stand Up Card":

As you can see below, the card has flaps on both sides that make the card look like it has it's own built-in easel:

Step 1:
For the front of the card, I used a scalloped rectangle made from chipboard. All I did was pop it out of a sheet from the On Board Merry Medley:

Grab a Sponge Dauber and Baja Breeze Ink and sponge the color on the chipboard. Stamp the sailboat from "The Open Sea Stamp Set" in Jet Black StazOn Ink.

Step 2:
Stamp the sailboat a second time on So Saffron Cardstock and hand-cut the sails. Glue them to the chipboard image:

Step 3:
Using the Tasteful Trim Die, cut out the scallop shape using Not Quite Navy Cardstock and Baja Breeze Cardstock. Glue the scallop strips by alternating the 2 colors. Trim the bottom layer with your Paper Snips and use a Sanding Block to smooth the edges. Using a Sponge Dauber and Not Quite Navy Ink, sponge the edges of the chipboard:

Step 4:
Using 2 of the clouds from the On Board Merry Medley, cover with Baja Breeze Cardstock that has been embossed with the Texture Plates. Trim around the edges with your Paper Snips and sponge the edges. Glue in place on the scallop rectangle:

Step 5:
Glue the scallop rectangle to a So Saffron Cardstock layer measuring 3.5" x 5 1/8":

Step 6:
Now you will prepare your card background layer. Cut a piece of Not Quite Navy Cardstock measuring 11" x 5.5". Score at 1.5", 3.5", 7.5" and 9.5". Measure 3" from the bottom on the edge of each side and make a small pencil mark. Using a Paper Cutter, cut from the pencil mark over to the 2nd score line. Do this for each side. Your card should look like the photo below:

Add a layer of Flirtatious Designer Series Paper on each side:

This is what your card should look like when folded and upright from the rear:

Completed card:

I added highlights using my White Signo Gel Pen, to the scallops and to the sails of the boat! If you click on the  photo above, this will enlarge the photo so you can see the detail.
